m15 R7, power button keeps flashing red

Hello everybody, I have had an Alienware m15 R7 for 6 months now. After changing the thermal paste, the power button just keeps flashing red with no blue. How do I fix it? Thank you.

Hi @Nhat To welcome to this free user-to-user Alienware laptop discussion forum.

Dell support for Alienware m15 R7, includes System-diagnostic lights.

From your OP, seemingly a new OEM battery is required, because its ability to hold the as new charge capacity has reduced over time. Please power-on using ac adapter and create Battery Report How to check battery health on Windows 11 | Windows Central

For the typical user, noticeable reduction in run time generally will be observed after 18 to 24 months. For a power user, reduction in run time generally may be experienced within 18 months. Dell recommends buying a new OEM laptop battery when the run time does not meet your needs. Dell Laptop Battery - Frequently Asked Questions | Dell US

Within the first year only, Dell provides battery warranty and the faulty battery will be replaced by Dell. Your Alienware m15 R7 is 6 months old, so Dell will replace faulty battery.

When your Alienware m15 R7 is more than one year old, use Dell Part Number, DP/N to search internet for new OEM replacement battery. Advocate Amazon or eBay purchase to get extra purchase protection. Before installation, check new battery's white label for Year/Month date beneath QR square matrix to check that it is less than 6 months old.

Parts-People says replacement battery is Dell Alienware m15 R7 OEM Original XPS 15 (9500) 6-Cell 86Wh Battery DP/N 69KF2. Dell documentation, Removing the battery, also says 86Wh Battery is DP/N 69KF2.

Hi @Nhat To thank you for sharing two updates.

There is no four Red, one Blue (4,1) code within Table 1. Diagnostic-light LED codes of the System-diagnostic lights, which makes troubleshooting difficult. There is no keeps flashing Red code. There is battery-status Amber code: Computer is running on battery and the battery has less than 5% charge.

Solved: m17 R3, four red lights, one blue - Dell Community.
