m17 R1, Number keypad not working consistently

My m17 R1 laptop number keypad on the right is having issues.  Many times when I press a number key it does not create the number desired and the computer beeps 4-5 times and the mouse jumps around.  I find that if I "pound" the key with my finger that it sometimes works properly.  The laptop is well cared for and not dirty.  Are the keys sticking or has some function been initiated that I'm unaware of?

Hi @Ribboy58  welcome to this user to user discussion forum. This is not Dell Support.

If the rear cover has been removed to install Battery, RAM, M.2 Drive, etc, it is easy to inadvertently disturb the keyboard to system board cable. Try reseating this cable, be very careful not to cause any damage.

Item 12 Open the latch and disconnect the keyboard cable from the system board. [Here]

Thanks for the reply.  This rear cover has never been removed as the laptop is barely out of warranty and I've had no other issues with it.  I may try what you are suggesting but I'm thinking I'll wait to see what other comments I receive.  Thanks again!
