m17 R1, boot issues, both plugged in and on battery

Good evening,

My Alienware m17 R1 laptop is acting weird ever since I've unboxed it. 

1) If it's plugged in, it doesn't start. I click the power button, the keyboard backlight flashes and then turns off. I have to wait around 30s until I try again, with the laptop unplugged.

2) When I try to restart it, it turns off, keyboard backlight flashes, then turns off, then flashes, then turns off, and repeat until I intervene.

Some, perhaps, useful information:

1) I've been unable to do a BIOS update due to the issues mentioned above. Everything else, including drivers, is up to date and working fine.

2) The laptop has been bought in March, but I've only recently got it shipped to Europe, where I live, because of the whole pandemic thing.

3) All temperatures are normal, as far as I've been advised.
