"If the noise is not louder than the fan, then it is within normal specification of the system. If the noise is not heard from 40-50 cm away from the computer, the unit is working as designed as the noise is not enough for a repair, unfortunately. our computer won't suffer any damage that will be caused by that noise directly, since our engineers have explained that is working as expected and is a normal behavior."
I wish they had better leadership for this small issue but like it is as it is.
Thank you very much. Do you have the service tag for the new computer? Also, do you happen to have a short video clip in which we can appreciate the noise coming out of it?
I sent my off to Dell to get it fixed under warranty. They replaced my heatsink (didnt even know this was an issue) and my keyboard. The loud static sound has disappeared now. There is a slight one that remains, however I'm unsure whether it is normal laptop noise or still something is wrong.
I found, when I connect my 180W adapter the weird grinding then buzzing noise happen kinda like coil whine sound. does anybody have this problem by 240W adapter?
There is another post in this thread that caught my attention. It seems that the static noise is related to the laptop being used when the power adapter is plugged in. It seems to disappear when running on battery power alone. At least when I unplug mine, the static noise goes away.
I am having the same problem. I discovered in a different thread that the noise seems to be related to the power adapter being plugged in. When running on battery power alone, the static goes away. Any thoughts?
Yes, me too! I didnt realize there was a connection between the adapter being plugged in and the static noise. It definitely is related. Not sure what to do now.

this is Dell official reply to my case:

I'm having this same issue! I'm unsure whether it is the speakers or a moving part within the machine itself.
Hope you can sort this out for me!
I have attached a link to a video which demonstrates the noise.

I am experiencing exact the same issue.
I have already requested for RMA service and Dell service told me they have changed its motherboard, but the issue is not resolved yet.
This soft but constant noise makes me so nervous, especially when using in a calm place, but I have no further idea how to them fix this...
