m17 R3, 330 W Power Supply Mystery!
Hello everyone! I recently purchased the m17 r3, loaded out with the i9 and 2080.
Everything works great as expected, so I bought another power supply from Amazon for work. (because they are huge!)
So with the Amazon PSU the power button will go orange and performance is greatly reduced. I switch back to the original psu and everything is fine.
Part Number for the original PSU = "LA330PM190" Specs are 19.5V 16.92 A 330W. Made by Lite-On
Amazon PSU = "DA330PM111 19.5V 16.9A 330W

Any idea why I'm getting the reduced performance?
I can not find a replacement for my original anywhere, dell says they are out of stock.
Any suggestions?
Thanks for the help!

Probably best would be to contact the seller. This doesn't appear to be an OEM adapter - but rather third party.
If you search both amazon and newegg, 330W Dell OEM adapters do appear.

Thanks, I purchased directly from Dell.
I just can't understand the difference in performance when the specs are essentially the same...

Sorry let me clarify.
Power supply that came with the computer, from dell:
"LA330PM190" Specs are 19.5V 16.92 A 330W. Made by Lite-On
2nd power supply purchased from Amazon:
"DA330PM111 19.5V 16.9A 330W
link-https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07Z8S3RJP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Original works great, Amazon one cuts performance greatly.
Specs are the same though.
So is it a defective psu (Amazon) or does this machine need an exact match for the original psu (LA330PM190), which is basically non existent. Via google search anyway...
Thanks!

Hold: you sent an Amazon link to a third-party adapter. Are you saying you ordered the unit direct from Dell now?
The link you sent is clearly a third-party adapter -- it is not listed as OEM.

Probably a psu issue from amazon as I have that same psu that caused performance drops. Return it and your good.

Not a PSU issue. I'm having the same problem as OP. Original PSU that came with the laptop was a LA330PM190 19.5V 16.92A. Bought the DA330PM111 19.5V 16.9A PSU on Amazon and it would cut out on heavy load. Blue light would stop glowing and the laptop would switch to battery mode. Returned the PSU and got another one, same problem.
Between this and Dell not having the correct drivers listed for this laptop, will have me think twice about my next purchase from them.

I ended up getting one from Ebay. Same model # as the original dell part. Has worked perfectly.
Note the original does not have the blue light on the power plug. Only light in on the brick.
