Download the new Alienware OSD application from Support website and install it. Make sure you get the version 1.7.6.0.
There was a problem with the version 1.7.5.0 installed from factory, caused by a Windows update. I had the same problem with my M15 R3, but Dell already fixed the issue with the version 1.7.6.0
How to use the NVIDIA Optimus Technologyto switch between an integrated graphics card and a discrete card to save power by using the right card for the right application.
The systems that ship with high-refresh panels (and RTX GPUs) are not Optimus-compliant. The discrete GPU is hardwired to the display panel on these.
If you want an Optimus-compliant M17 R3 and are within the 30 day return period, arrange a system exchange for one with a lower refresh panel and a GTX GPU. On these, you can use Optimus to enable the onboard GPU to save power when that's required.
Also note: GSync requires a hardwired display to the GPU -- a system that supports Optimus will not support GSync (and vice-versa).

Sorry, but that is not true.
I have an M15 R3 with RTX 2070 144Hz G-Sync screen and IT DOES HAVE OPTIMUS.
The problem he is having is a situation with the Alienware OSD that got messed up by a Windows Update and needs to be updated to the version 1.7.6.0.
My system got the same problem with the 1.7.5.0 but it was all resolved with the new version.
Optimus is not available in systems with screen refresh rate of 300Hz and OLED.
