m17 R3, RTX 2080 Super, 130W charger?

Question

Hi all,

My m17 R3 came with a 130W charger, going via the Dell website says this is the charger for the system but I get messages in the AWCC saying its undersized and my performed has seemed to be lacking. Do you know which charger I am meant to have?

As per the Dell support page, there were 4 adapters available ranging from 130W to 330W. Are you sure yours is the 130W? You can go to the support page and type in your service tag number and you can find out which adapter you had shipped with the system. Actually I am surprised that you did not receive either the 240W or the 330W. This forum page may have some more information.

I can confirm its a 130W charger but when the service tag goes in it only shows me the 130W as an option. For the RTX 2080 Super and I7 10750H what wattage charger do you recommend I need for it to have enough power?

The smaller adapter will work but with slower charge times and under load the system can be throttled. I would say the best size for portability is the 240W. But if you use the system primarily in one location then the 330W. But keep in mind the 330W adapter is rather large. The 240W is shown and available here.

Hi Chris,

This is not what I recieved (Strangely even when i go to parts for my laptop on the Dell website it mentions only the 130W and 180W charger). Now I am having another issue however, I purchased the 330W charger and when after sometime while being used the charger stops and then the laptop switches to battery. There is no issues until I play games etc.

Any help is greatly appreciated
