Something is getting bottlenecked, and I'm not sure if it is at the GPU or the CPU, but my guess is probably the latter. I have a similar issue when I'm running 4K games to an external monitor from my Area 51M. The thing is, the issue only happens when I am not in overclocking mode in Alienware command center. And I say overclocking mode, as opposed to overclocking, because I don't actually have to overclock the CPU or the GPU. I just have to enable overclocking within command center. Every time I do that, the problem disappears entirely. So my advice is to try your games with overclocking enabled in command center, and see if that helps. you don't need to increase the clock speed or the memory speed or anything else. Just enable overclocking.

That's my only thought. but I can tell I have forgotten to enable overclocking if I get a few minutes into a game and notice stuttering every 20 seconds or so. Like I said, the problem disappears entirely if I just enable OC mode within command center.

I think I will mark @Chris Hurlburt reply as a solution temporarily just until you reply back.

before you try to open your laptops, re-paste and mess with overclock, which i did. My solution for lagging was very simple, i just ran Steam on big picture and all my lagging was gone, i hope i help someone not to waste all the time i wasted trying to make my laptop playable by first trying this simple thing if they are playing on steam.

Open your steam normally, right click on the right bottom corner of the screen on the steam little logo, go to option big picture and thats it.
