m17 R3, i9-10980HK, AWOC disappeared after update
I've been using the overclock and fan controls in Alienware Command Center since I got this laptop (to actually underclock/undervolt to keep it cool). It's been working just fine.
Today after a reboot, CC/OC updated, and after a second restart I saw a brief popup complaining about overclocking being disabled. Now the CPU overclock controls are missing under the Fusion tab. The GPU controls are still there, as are the fan controls.
I tried uninstalling CC and OC and reinstalling, but still no CPU overclock controls.
What's going on here?
(And yes, I know about Throttlestop and prefer using CC for its game profiles.)

Hello;GMGlobalConnect
CPU for a maximum Turbo Boost clock rate of 4.4 GHz when all 8 cores are active and so the ability to maintain 4.3 GHz is a notable achievement relative to other gaming laptops with the exact same CPU. In fact, our comparison graph below shows that the Dell is able to run the CPU faster than any other Core i9-10980HK laptop in our database at the moment by at least 9 percent against the next fastest system

Hi @wbradney Intel core processors have vulnerabilities, and Dell has decided to impose the Intel firmware updates to mitigate these potential vulnerabilities. The intel firmware updates may be delivered by Windows Update or Dell Updates. Example: Alienware m15/m17 R3 System BIOS version 1.12.0 includes Intel Technical Advisory INTEL-TA-00562. Dell may say that update is urgent, but users are advised to look at update description and only download/install the updates that they want.

I've had BIOS 1.12 since December and have been able to use the CPU overclock controls up until today when CC updated.
I uninstalled CC and OC and installed the prior versions I had downloaded (from November), but these versions now no longer start (white screen followed by crash).

I had the same problems with the new OC update 1.3.60.1380. I uninstalled it, rebooted and opened command center and it automatically installed the missing OC components back to 1.3.54.1380 and all worked well again on the 54 version vs 60 version so leaving it there now. I tried the 60 again with the same results having to delete again and use CC to do its install again.

The problem seems to be the Windows feature Virtual Machine Platform (WSL2). When I have that enabled (I run Docker), the latest version of CC won't load OC controls for CPU or Memory. When Virtual Machine Platform is turned off, CC works fine (but obviously Docker no longer does).
So we need a way to run CC fully with WSL2 enabled. Throttlestop seems to have no problem controlling clock and voltage while WSL2 is enabled.

Same problem occurs on a m15 R3, i9-10980HK with the new OC update 1.3.60.1380 when Windows Security, Core Isolation, Memory Integrity is set to On. Similar to what previous users have found, OC version 1.3.54.1380 works fine with Memory Integrity set to On.
If someone from the Alienware OC software development team is monitoring this thread, please include testing cases where users enable/disable things like Memory Integrity, WSL, WSL2, Hypervisor support, Virtual Machine platform in your testing. The complete list of things that are available in Windows Features and the OS Security settings.
That would help prevent a bunch of problems for your customers.

If the want the fastest there is, then you'll also have to get the hottest and loudest is well. The latest Alienware isn't afraid to run at extreme temperatures all in the name of maximizing raw performance The difference will be immediately noticeable to enthusiasts. During our time with a fully configured Alienware m17 R3, we're able to observe steady CPU clock rates of 4.3 GHz when running Prime95 to stress the processor. Intel rates its i9-10980HK CPU for a maximum Turbo Boost clock rate of 4.4 GHz when all 8 cores are active and so the ability to maintain 4.3 GHz is a notable achievement relative to other gaming laptops with the exact same CPU

So now my m17 R3 i7 had the CC auto update the OC controls to the broken 1.3.60.1380 version and I'm stuck with it now. Also seeing post by m51 laptop owners with the same problem but no fixes. Hope Dell has a fix coming soon.
