Hi @PhanDUy ,

I hope your day is going good! I see you're having issues with your Keyboard on your X15 R2?

I have some tips on how the issue can be resolved:

- Make sure that all settings inside BIOS and in Windows are set to their Default Values.

- Check that any optional updates in Windows Settings have been installed and make sure to reinstall this driver, Intel HID Event Filter Driver | Driver Details | Dell US

Hi @PhanDUy ,

Have you tried to open the back panel of the laptop and inspect the wire for the Keyboard to see if its damaged or loose?

If it's still within 30 days of purchase, you can contact DELL for a replacement and if you have Premium Support, it can be repaired.

- My x15r2 laptops keyboard randomly stop working, only can make it works again by using FN+F1, then it stops working next some minutes, very annoying.
- I met this problem about 6 months ago, but I thoughts its an software issue, but till now Dell never released an update about this, then I contact Fiverr support, took me nearly 3 weeks, but nothing resolved.
- My relative bought this laptop in US then bring it to Vietnam for me, but now when I request an warranty or replacement, Dell US said: "I would like to inform you that your system was not supposed to sold/export to any other than the origin country. I will not be able to proceed further with the support" and Dell Vietnam when I contacted them, they said me waiting, then never respond , it means I have to fix my laptop myself (althought I transfer the warranty to Vietnam, and Dell call its Pro Support, international support, but none of Dell in 2 countries help me. Lol)
- Im very regret that I spent more then 3000 usd for a laptop with very bad support, Dell should kill what they call International warranty, very disapointed

My x15 R2 keyboard randomly stops working. I can only get it working again by pressing F1 to enter Full Speed mode.
I call Dell support, try many ways as I can find on internet, do clean OS installed (win 11 and win 10). Now nearly 1 year since the first time I met this problem, and nothing resolved, no way to help from Dell, very disappointed for a more than 3000 usd laptop.

@PhanDUy hey! I ran across this post today and had this problem myself. I just fixed my alienware 15 r2 keyboard, well kind of at least. I found a temporary fix, but realistically I think I'd need to replace the motherboard, as the ports where the keyboard ribbon cables plug in has quite a finicky connection. I found that the KB and KB BL cables seem to be fine plugged in, but that the third cable next to KB has a really odd line up of the pins, and my keyboard works when I wiggle the ribbon cable out of its plug until it is almost unplugged. It this position, the pins make contact and I can type! The ports seem to be made of pretty weak plastic and the pins on the motherboard side seem to have been pushed in too far to the point they don't like to make contact. I'd recommend checking that cable and wiggling it around to different positions to see if that fixes it, good luck!

I have a X15 R2. The keyboard has been intermittently not working. As I have warranty, I raised it with Dell Tech. They informed me there is a known issue with certain batches of R2 laptops. I believe it requires a hardware fix.

My laptop serial number was not in this list. The technical engineer updated the BOIS which did not fix the issue.

Running the hardware diagnostics (F12 after reboot) it showed an error code 2000-0415 Validation Code 83643. He confirmed it was a hardware fault. He got me to reseat the ribbon cable from the keyboard to the keyboard controller board. See page 46 in the x15 R2 Service Manual. I removed the back cover. Then removed the battery to show the keyboard circuit board. Removed the metal plate over the keyboard circuit board. Removed the ribbon cable and reseated it. This fixed the issue and the error shown cleared. Hope this helps everyone.

@Jeff Manser I have been experiencing random keyboard failures for the past year. More recently my Alienware x15R2 started to slow down dramatically in booting up, shutting down and running programs. I tried everything from a software perspective with no change. I ran diagnostics in the bios which showed a suite of issues including keyboard,  CPU fans and temp sensors. I came across this post and thought it may at least fix the keyboard. After following your instructions and pitting everything back together I ran diagnostics again and all issues had gone not just the keyboard. Rebooted into windows quickly and all slow program issues had disappeared.

Seems the keyboard cable can effect alot more that just the keyboard. Thanks for your advice.

Same problem here, keyboard not working suddenly backlight is off GPU temp sensor not working fan not detected…….after disassembly the keyboard connection and the circuit board find out there is connector oxidation, use the contact cleaner to clean both of them then everything back to normal, hope it helps others with same problem
