x17 R1, BIOS 1.8 issues
Hi all,
Since my laptop updated to BIOS 1.8, it now no longer shuts down.
The screen will go black, however, the keyboard and rear lights remain lit and the fans continue spinning, indicating that the laptop is still running.
Is this fixed in 1.9 or does anyone know any other fix?

Disconnect everything from the x17 R1 except the provided power adapter. Then click Start- Power- Shut down. What happens? Also click our name and send us a private message with the private Service Tag.

Hi @DD1987 welcome to this free user to user Alienware laptop discussion forum. This is not Dell Support.
Seems bad install of BIOS update file is root cause of this problem.
Support for Alienware x15/x17 R1 System BIOS Version 1.9.0 Installation instructions are very specific. Never try and install System BIOS over the internet (do not use Dell SupportAssist application or Update utility). Always verify the checksum value to ensure the integrity of your download file.

This is with windows right when shutting down via the shutdown option.
Just restart the laptop and then hard shut it down. That should fix it.
