Avamar migration

We currently have a 14 node Avamar G4s Grid running 7.2 . Management has purchased a replacement system consisting of a M1200 Avamar node, and a DD2500 with a shelf for capacity. A majority of the backups are DTLT. What is the optimal method for migrating all of the schedules/datasets/retention policies to the new system. Also, what would be the best way to migrate the clients (EM export and import?)?

Thanks!

A root-to-root will probably be your best bet.

However, please note that it will not be possible to migrate the backups to the target system regardless of the migration method chosen. It is not currently possible to migrate data from GSAN storage to DD storage.

During the migration, the --copysnapups=false flag needs to be passed to the replicator in order to make sure that the backups aren't replicated to the target, otherwise the GSAN capacity of the single node server will be completely consumed and the target system will have to be re-initialized.

@ADAGUZ

You could perform root to root migration to target system.

Pre-requisites for r2r migration:

*Target server should be at same or higher software version compared to source

*Target should have same or high  capacity compared to source server

*The destination server must be completely clean and empty.
