Avamar reporting
I'm using Avamr 7.4 and my client wants the following reports....
Monthly reports showing:
1. Total number of backups
2. Number of failed backups
3. Number of successful backups
4. Backups completed in backup window
5. Number of restores
6. Number of successful restores
what is the best way as Avamar reporting does seem to be quite basic!

We are using MASTR tool for getting such reports.

You can also leverage EMC's Data Protection Advisor, DPA. DPA has very nice reporting and can generate all of the charts you've mentioned. You can contact your Dell/EMC Sales Team, as you might have the licensing in place already.

yes DPA can do this but its currently not in place.
I would like to get some commands or something I can generate direct from the Avamar server.

You can use Powershell commands to create small script which run daily
and the script will login into putty of the avamar grid and run commands to fetch all information daily and mail it using your mail server
you can use
mccli Client show --recursive=true
to create list of al the client and then run
mccli backup show --name=String [--after=String] [--before=String]
to lists their backup status
