Error 10054
Avamar 7.3.0-226 integrated with VMware 5.5.0, deployed one proxy using Proxy Deployment manager - can see all the clients from with the vCenter however, some clients backup no problem, others fail with the error 10054 in the Activity log and then when you open the session log you see:
avvcbimage Error <0000>: No response from Avamar Administrator to retain snapshot request, (Log#1)
avvcbimage Error <0000>: createSnapshot: snapshot creation or pre/post snapshpt script failed (Log#1)
avvcbimage Error <0000>: createSnapshot: snapshot creation/pre-script/post-script failed (Log#1)
Have checked the datastores that the proxy is able to access and all those seem correct. Interestingly, the clients are part of a large scheduled group and when I come in the morning and run an on demand backup of some of the failed clients, some complete!!!!! and some continue to fail!!!!!!
Any assistance would be appreciated
Neil

It sounds like the number of requests being sent to the Avamar server may be overwhelming the Avamar Administrator Server (MCS). This normally happens if there are a lot of VMs backing up concurrently or a large number of proxies. Is it possible for you to stagger these backups, e.g. by splitting them into two groups? If that doesn't address the problem, I recommend you open a service request for this issue.

The VADP are already divided into 4 groups of approximately 100 machines. Nothing was changed since version 7.1 and every thing was OK with this version.
Sorry for my English.

It would be good if verbosity of logs can be increase for these backups and also as Ian mentioned, this would require analyzing the MCS logs as well to understand the Server status at the time of backups.
Recommend opening a Service Request.

Same issue here - Avamar 7.3.0-233, VMware 5.5.0. Avamar front end to Data Domain backend. It seemed fine when we were just taking snapshots. This seems to have started for us when we added some client agent based backups to the snapshot backups.

We believe we have the solution to our problem, but it must still be confirmed. With version 7.3, the PROXIES not only discuss with the UTILITY NODE but also with all other GRID NODES. As we have a network dedicated to BACKUP, we had to create the road on all our NODES not just on UTILITY. Our tests are OK today.

This sounds like a different issue. The error messages in the original post are referring specifically to snapshot requests and these are only sent between the proxy and the utility node. Edit: Or in older releases, the proxy and the VMware environment. The important part is that Avamar storage nodes are never involved in the VMware snapshot process.
However, the Avamar client must be able to reach all the storage nodes in order to send data (or just metadata, for Avamar / DD backups) to the Avamar server. This requirement is not new in Avamar 7.3.
I'm glad to hear you were able to resolve your issue.

Hello,
I think I must be more precise. In reality, we had two problems. The first was a very slow console because too JAVA process. After killing the process and restart the MCS backup was OK except for the CLUSTER of the DMZ. It is then that we discovered during this VADP CLUSTER NODES access to other than the UTILITY was blocked on network dedicated to the DMZ. We did not have this problem before upgrade to the 7.3. The creation of the new road on all NODES to the deadlock. Sorry but English is not my favorite language
Thank you for your help.

I opened a support ticket, they restarted MCS, and the backups were fine the next night.

Yes, me too, but it has functioned as a week. Even after killing all the java process.
