avamar license

So far I have not met a single customer that could either show me a purchase order confirmation or the EMC customer number and asset reference ID as required for the AVAMAR license.

Am I the only one who had this problem ?

Anyone can send an example of an EMC Purchase Order Confirmation ?

from the AVAMAR ig :

thx,

Thierry

When the customer is unable, I have had greatest success getting this info from the SAM for the customer site.

They usually will be able to either provide the info or tell you who can.

Professional Services has access to the Licensing Portal (EMC Extranet).

I was given access some time ago after requesting it.

Once in it's easy...if the Customer number and Asset ID number are known and used to generate the file to upload.

The EMC Purchase Order Confirmation does not contain the Avamar Software License Keys. Below is the process of how a Customer receives the Avamar license key information.

Upon entry of order by operations, the licensing department creates the Avamar License Keys and sends an email to the Customer Name entered in DxP or CxP by the EMC Sales Rep or Partner as the recipient to receive the license information.  Avamar licensing uses Subscribenet as the download center for software and keys.  The email sent to the customer comes from emc.subscribenet.com (separate licensing center from other EMC products, but linked to Powerlink).  This email contains a login and password to enter the download center to retrieve the Avamar license keys and download the software purchased.

Below are the steps EMC PS uses to obtain the keys:

#1 Installer calls Customer who the Sales Rep has entered into DxP (or CXP if partner) as the license contact and asks for the license keys. The request typically occurs during the installation planning stage.

After receipt of order each Customer is emailed a welcome letter from the Avamar License download Center (EMC.Subscribenet.com) with a password and login to obtain the license keys and Avamar software.

#2 If the Installer cannot talk to the Customer to obtain the license keys, an email can be sent to licensing@emc.com along with the Product SO number to request a copy of the license keys. The request should be make at least 48 hours prior to the installation.

thank you for the process detail! would appreciate it if you could provide insight on the following questions

  • is this system/process still in use as of Q3 2012?
  • do you know exactly which group manages Subscribenet?
    • is there an email alias associated with this group (was unsure if licensing@emc.com refers to this)?
