Automating SNAPVIEW

How are others using snapview in order to present a lun to a host for backup purposes? Currently I am running scripts on each host and presenting that snapped volume to a host so it can be backed up. However this seem like a clumsy way of doing this. I'd like to hear how others are doing so and maybe view a script or two of how it is being done.

One way of doing it would be to use PowerSnap module. I'm about to test it for Symmetrix so I can't give you any experience stories, but you could check docs for it.

I have looked at everything in the market and besides the intigration of PowerSnap in the Legato Backup software, there is really nothing out there that does it well. (Unless you want to buy RM for an Arm and Leg, which still sucks at managing it).

Hopefully one day EMC will wise up and create an application (or buy one) that can do this and that scales well without all of the complications of setting up RM (It's a pain)
