Powerpath pseudo devices

Hi

I am using Powerpath with EMC AX4. I have configured powerpath to have the pseudo devices for my LUNs in server. I want to keep the device to pseudo name mapping intact even after reinstalling the powerpath software. I once reinstalled the powerpath and found that the pseudo names are changing. But for my application the names should remain the same. How can i acheive that?

I have tried powermt save option to save the configuration and then load it after reinstalling the powerpath but it did not work. Is there any other option?

Thanks

regards

karthik

take a look at PowerPath manual for the following commands:

emcpadm export_mappings

emcpadm import_mappings

not sure if it relies on LUN WWN or logical name.

Hi

Does it use LUN WWN to save LUN to PowerPath device name mapping?

Best regards,

Alex

If you goto Support - Search support in powerlink.emc.com and put emc205443 the first link should show you the article

Alternatively here is the link to the article

Hi

Yes I tried renaming devices. I can do that successfully but that will not solve my purpose.

root@t3-1x1778 # /opt/EMCpower/bin/emcpadm check_mappings -v -f /emc_devices1

Imported Device            Remapping Status
   Mapping
----------------  ------------------------------------------
emcpower0a        remaps: emcpower7a  emcpower0a
emcpower1a        remaps: emcpower6a  emcpower1a
emcpower2a        remaps: emcpower5a  emcpower2a
emcpower3a        remaps: emcpower4a  emcpower3a
emcpower4a        remaps: emcpower3a  emcpower4a
emcpower5a        remaps: emcpower2a  emcpower5a
emcpower6a        remaps: emcpower1a  emcpower6a
emcpower7a        remaps: emcpower0a  emcpower7a

You can see above the mapping details. it tells clearly that the current system configuration differs from the one in the file. According to the primus solution the config in the file takes precedence. But it is not so. even after importing and saving the config still it shows old one.
