Storage Group hosts missing from list but still connected.

I was wondering if anyone has run across this before.   I have a Storage group with 18 ESX 4.1 hosts.   I went to add another host and i can see that about 6 of the hosts are not listed in the "Host to be connected" box.   I went into engineering mode and selected the "advanced" button and those same host do not show up there either.

I then looked at connectivity status and all 18 hosts are listed with the correct storage group as well as being logged in.  Inside Vmware, those missig hosts can still access all datastores.

The reason i ask is i need to add another host to that group and i am wondering that if i did,  when i hit apply that it would remove those 6 hosts since they were not listed in the window.

Did you open a case for this? If so, what's the case number?

Seems like Navisphere GUI related issue, did you try to restart the management server.

Actaully,  it wont let me create a dummy record.  the "OK" box is greyed out even though i have filled everything in

I am guessing you may think there is a storage group limit?

I will be opening a ticket tomorrow to see what they say.

hehe   dummy initiators require full WWN's as well as unique host names and IP's.   this is going to take forever....

Yes  there are currently 18 hosts and i want to add another.

Only 12 of those hosts are showing up in the storage group properties even though all 18 can access the LUN's assigned to that SG.

I also did a naviseccli -storagegroup -list -gname -hosts and it list all 18 hosts....

manually create 18 "dummy" initiators and put them in a test storage group. See if you observe the same behavior.

138.

And it is not like it is not letting me add the new hosts.  i havent tried yet.  i just wanted to see if anyone had seen this before where all the hosts in a current SG are not listed.

Kenn,

I also got the same type of behaviour yesterday when I added new paths to a host and then restarted naviagent the host missed from the SG. I think this is an issue in the Navisphere GUI but I'm not sure yet.

Try to do a naviseccli storagegroup -list

And see if the hosts are correctly connected.
