Question on Potential Storage
Hello,
We are receiving the alerts.
"Alert A2:
Storage pool 'symm_std will fill its current capacity on Dec 30, 2011 6:42:07 PM."
I have some confusion about Storage and Potential Storage in Celerra manager - Pool (sym_std) properties window.
It shows the following
Storage: |
|
Potential Storage: |
|
[nasadmin@PWC-US-ATL-CS0 ~]$ nas_pool -size symm_std -slice y
id = 1
name = symm_std
used_mb = 30251703
avail_mb = 184269
total_mb = 30435972
potential_mb = 7647288
[nasadmin@PWC-US-ATL-CS0 ~]$
I have also tried to create a new file system (1 TB) to see if the space from Potential storage gets added to the Storage.
[nasadmin@PWC-US-ATL-CS0 ~]$ nas_pool -size symm_std -slice y
id = 1
name = symm_std
used_mb = 31300279
avail_mb = 118491
total_mb = 31418770
potential_mb = 6664504
[nasadmin@PWC-US-ATL-CS0 ~]$
or
[nasadmin@PWC-US-ATL-CS0 ~]$ nas_pool -size symm_std
id = 1
name = symm_std
used_mb = 737098
avail_mb = 0
total_mb = 737098
potential_mb = 6664504
[nasadmin@PWC-US-ATL-CS0 ~]$
any suggestions ?

Potential Storage = storage pool + un-allocated disks which have not been pulled in to the storage
So what needs to be done to get the Potential storage in the available space. (creating a new file system did not work) Need to stop the alert from saying that it does not have space.
