W2K8 R2 with ALUA: Server Utility reports incorrect HBA settings
We have connected four Windows 2008 R2 servers to the CLARiiON system of a Celerra NS20FC, using a Emulex HBA (HP branded). They are nodes of a Hyper-V cluster, and they have installed Navisphere Server Utility 6.29, Host Agent 6.29, CLI 6.28 and PowerPath 5.3 SP1.
On the other hand, the initiators of the servers are registered in the CLARiiON with the following options:
Initiator Type: CLARiiON Open
Arraycommpath: Enabled
Failovermode: 4 (ALUA)
UnitSerialNumber: Array
The versions of the Celerra are:
DART: 5.6.46-4
FLARE: 3.26.10.5.026
Both FLARE 3.26 and PowerPath 5.3 SP1 are compatible with ALUA.
The four servers are in the same Storage Group, in which several LUNs have been included.
For the time being, everything is working fine, but the report generated by High Availability option of Server Utility shows the following error:
The settings for one or more server HBAs are invalid for the operating system and failover software package running on the server.
Server OS [Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise (x64)] Failover Software [PowerPath]
Initiators with incorrect settings:
20:00:00:00:C9:AD:BB:27:10:00:00:00:C9:AD:BB:27 (B-0) (Serial#: CK200080900254) [Failover Mode: 4]
20:00:00:00:C9:AD:BB:27:10:00:00:00:C9:AD:BB:27 (A-1) (Serial#: CK200080900254) [Failover Mode: 4]

What can be wrong?

this is not Win2k8 R2 SP1 ? Also did you zone each HBA to SPA and SPB ? Something like this:
zone 1 - HBA1 -> SPA0
zone 2 - HBA1 -> SPB1
zone3 - HBA2 -> SPB0
zone4 - HBA2 -> SPA1
i also don't see any harm if you install the latest version of PP 5.5

The HBAs are dual port, but now there is only one port of each one connected to a Brocade switch (fabric 1):
zone 1: HBA_p1 -> SPA1
zone 2: HBA_p1 -> SPB0
Later, we will connect the servers to other switch (fabric 1):
zone 1: HBA_p0 -> SPA0
zone 2: HBA_p0 -> SPB1
Though PowerPath can be upgraded, we think that our current configuration is correct, in fact there haven't been errors with the LUNs, so we don't know why Server Utility reports the error about initiators.
Is there something wrong in the configuration? Or
Is there an issue in Server Utility software?

For a FC SAN question I think you get faster and better answers in the neighbor Clariion forum category
