FMA/VE with fileservers
Does FMA/VE support only NAS as the source ? Or can it be used for archiving the stale data on fileservers ? If it can, should all the directories on the fileservers be shared ? Pls clarify

Hi Ashwinn,
Yes, FMA/VE supports only NAS (Celerra, NetApp, and now VNX) as source storage.

I am told EMC can support Windows Fileserver as source for FMA/VE as a RPQ. Are you aware of this ? If so, will it involve a software component on the fileserver ?

Ashwin,
FMA (or FMA/VE) does not currently support windows servers and is not available via RPQ.
There is no functional difference between FMA and FMA/VE.
