Help with SC8000 (Replaced FC modules with iSCSI modules without factory reset)

Hi everyone!

I would like to get some help about my two SC8000 controllers. I've replaced the original FC IO modules QLogic QLE2564 8GB with Chelsio T320 10G. In one of the controllers i can configure IO Card change to remove old FC IO module configurations, but in the second controller i cant remove the old configuration. It gives me the error in the image. How can i change this IO Modules and configure as a new storage? Thanks

You would need to reinstall the license files. You should be able to download them from the dell digital locker.

Sorry, I thought you meant after you factory reset what do you do. To factory reset an SC8000 you will need to contact phone support so they can run some commands.

There isn’t a backup settings, so you configure it to the same way it is now.

Hi! We will need to just factory reset o install a new image? If we need to install a new image, where can i download a system image for the controllers? It is FluidFS? It comes internally in the controlers?

Hello Deivid Silva,

Thank you for choosing Dell.

If the system has been powered on, but not configured yet (no joining of controllers), then the factory reset commands need to be completed on each controller.
If the system has been powered on and configured (controllers are joined), then the factory reset commands need to be completed on just one controller (preferably the leader). You also need to verify that there are no volumes created.
IO card replacement will require Technical Support intervention to run specific commands, as Josh mentioned.

Did you contact Technical Support?

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks.

Unfortunately, there is not a way to do it without phone support.

I think there is no way to renew support contract anymore, since the storage is on EOF. We tried and they said it cant renew. How we can proceed?

If you have a dedicated sales team they might be able to do an escalation. Swapping I/O modules isn’t/wasn’t supported so there isn’t a support escalation path to do it now that it is end of support on the model. The other option is to buy a chassis that already supports the modules you want to use.
