Sorry I never posted what the problem was - after many tries to check out I discovered that for some reason the check out cart did not like it when certain things were together. In my case it was a monitor. So I saved all the items to the save cart area - checked out with the monitor alone in the cart with no problem. Then I added the other items in the cart and checked out with another order and it worked. I do not know what the issue is with the check out system but this workaround did the trick for me and I hope it works for others
I thought you may want to know the outcome and solution. I was just now able to place my order. I chatted with sales and got some help but in the end I used a work around to place the order! LOL
While I was chatting with sales customer service the i kept asking why I was getting that error - the representative wanted to use other methods - but I wanted to know why this error was occurring because they said no one else was having a problem! When I asked for the 3rd time why I was getting this error they said because of the monitor price error.
In my cart I had a monitor, a speaker set, and a surge protector. When I asked what they meant about the error they said I had a speaker set in the same cart as the monitor? I said yes it was a choice when personalizing the monitor! LOL So instead of using the quote email they sent I went in and cleared the cart - then added the monitor and tried to add the surge protector but it would not check out (same error) so I removed that and bought the monitor solo. All was fine and I checked out. Then i added the speakers and the surge protector to my cart and purchased those together without a problem!
So apparently i cannot buy other accessories with a monitor! Weird but I am thinking this might help someone else
Just to tell you the customer service tried to tell me something was wrong with the settings on my browser and I said on 3 diff computers and several diff browser? Don't think so ...
Oh and last but not least they kept telling me to go to www.dell.com/quote to get the quote they sent - when i tried over and over to go that page it reverted to dell.com it is also listed that way in the quote email - I told them what was happening and they said something was wrong with my system! I Googled it and the page to retrieve a quote is ecomm.dell.com/.../qto_retrieve.aspx
I'm having the same problem 6 months later. Really frustrating experience and had I not just opened a 5k credit line, I'd go elsewhere. Monitor with anything else in cart causes 404 when attempting to either apply or pay with Dell credit. Really infuriating.
I have been trying to place an order and still having the Error Server Code 404 myself. They have told me no one else has had the issue. My cart has been saved for over a week but there continues to be no resolution in purchase products.

It's obvious that something isn't working on the site apparently.
Give it sometime, try again in a little while but keep in mind that today is Sunday so I don't know who is working today, if anyone, on the web.

Try clearing the browser's cache, cookies and temp files. Then exit and restart the browser. See if you can check out now.
BTW: You might also try using IE to check out, if you've been using Firefox or Chrome up 'til now

What is going on when you are trying to complete the order, what keeps you from completing it?
