Welcome to the club!

Chances are you won't see your new laptop before you depart. My understanding is all laptops are assembled in China, so you've got that logistical nightmare to deal with even if they get all the parts and production releases it to be shipped. Best of luck and I hope Dell proves me wrong.

Here's my story: https://www.dell.com/community/Customer-Care/R10-Production-Delay/td-p/8066710/jump-to/first-unread-message

I was really willing to wait for at least a month on my order because I have been saving up for this one but with all of the conflicting statements by their customer support, I was really disappointed. They could’ve just inform me from the beginning. I am now seriously considering just cancelling my order and find one in stock from their reseller. I hope Dell can figure out a way to fix their order system that shows them if they even have their parts in stock. I really love their products tho.

Same here. Early November I ordered an Alienware desktop that they said was "ready to ship". Otherwise I would have sprung for a more expensive model with a late Dec ship date. I wish they would just be honest about it. I ordered a part for another Alienware desktop and that supplier (not Dell) was straight with me and said the part was on back order.  Instead, Dell just keeps saying its still preproduction and being "tested" and pushing the delivery date by a few more weeks.. After being a Dell customer, using all Dell computers for business and personal and having an account for 15 years, I am considering canceling my order and my account. Look on their products pages. They continue to mislead customers about having the same comp I ordered "ready to ship" .

They sent me a private message here on Dell. They told me that the part facing backlog on my order is the LCD.

Laptops are assembled in China, desktops in Mexico, Customer Care in India, and phone support in the Philippines, and who knows where else.  They're in asia already..

UPDATE;

Upon checking online, my order has now entered in production and should be able to be delivered on Dec 27.

Lol, ordered my laptop on Nov 20th and they updated mine to Dec 31st after a delay... From what I've seen on the internet we are not the only ones in this delay boat...

Yea, I’ve also read a couple of forums about the order delays. Is your order still on the “confirmed” stage? Mine was already in production since Dec 17. Supposed to ship out yesterday the 20th but no movement so far since then.

I did check the order & see that it has moved into production & is estimated to be moving into the final stages by the 22nd.

You shall be able to get the updates on the site as soon as it is shipped out.
