Delayed Order Resolution

I ordered my Alienware X17 R2 on 1 April 2022 and it was supposed to have 'shipped' over a month ago.  I wanted to check in with the forums to see how long the wait time was for other people.  The website told me that the system was supposed to have been delivered no later than a week after purchase.  I understand that there is a lockdown in China, but the website did say that the items were on hand (I assumed locally in the US) and I was unaware that the system was coming from overseas.  When I got the shipping notification on 15 April, it said it was being shipped from Chicago but was told by the customer service representative that the system was actually being shipped from China but is held up for COVID-related delays.

I've already started to make payments for an item that I do not have in my hands.  I am frustrated and angry and don't understand how this is considered okay.
