Price match question
Good day,
I would like to know what Dell's price match policy currently is?
A few years ago I purchased three 2405fpw monitors from the Dell site and was able to negotiate a discount. in 2008 I purchased a 3008wfp and the sales person was able to bring the price down significantly from the listed price. Then my brother purchased a 3011wfp and was also able to negotiate the price down a bit.
This takes me to now, my 3008wfp has begun to have some issues and I want to replace it with a U3014 of the latest revision. I've looked on Amazon and they have it for $1029 http://www.amazon.com/Dell-UltraSharp-30-Inch-PremierColor-Monitor/dp/B00C2RPW8O vs Dell Canada selling it for $1500 http://accessories.dell.com/sna/products/monitors/productdetail.aspx?c=ca&l=en&s=bsd&cs=cabsdt1&sku=225-4429
Like I did for all of my previous orders, I contacted Dell and asked them to price match. The person in the chat room was very happy to help but needed manager approval to match. Shortly after I receive a call from the Indian tech support telling me that Dell does not price match or negotiate on prices.
I have found recent forum postings on other sites with people claiming to have had success negotiating, so either the person I spoke to is wrong about this or Dell has changed many years of sales practices that have made me happy to spend $1000's of dollars with them. I have seen the monitor for sale for $700 in the past year so I know there is plenty of profit margin to dip into. I asked the sales rep simply to match the Amazon price but he said it couldn't be done. I would just purchase the monitor from Amazon but there is a recent firmware revision which fixes some issues and for now is only available directly from Dell.
I'm hoping someone can give me a hand, otherwise I think this will be the end of my hardware purchases from Dell.
Thanks!

That is what I have done in all of my previous purchases. Much like cars, high end electronics MSRP is never what you end up paying but the salesperson I spoke to on the phone said there was no room for adjustment. I'm pretty sure it's just that one person being unable to make a pricing decision themselves and unwilling to escalate me to someone who could. I put in a ticket on the Dell Facebook account to see if they can help me out, otherwise I think this is the end to my relationship with Dell.
Thanks for the reply.

Ndafoe,
Dell doesn't price match but you can dicker with them on the phone when ordering and see how you do?
