R10 Production Delay

Ordered my new rig 14 October and it still hasn't transitioned to production.

Anyone else experiencing delays?

Why is it there is a back log on R10s? Based on the thread below, R13s are moving along smartly and are being delivered early!

Our web-page is providing rough estimations on our products' delivery times. The deals presented in our web-page are offered on a first-come, first-served basis and due to constant changes in global demand, our product availability often shifts during holiday season. We are working hard to fulfill orders as quickly as possible but unfortunately we are not always able to keep up with the increased demand in many of our popular products.

I understand what you are calling out. However, the estimation date is calculated based on the time it would take to procure parts, assemble, build, and ship.

Being a build-to-ship order manufacturer, it is difficult to confirm a fixed date to build & ship an order.

R13/R14s, other than case and some peripherals use the same parts (chipsets, graphics cards, SSDs...etc) as the R10s. I acknowledge I don't have the big picture visibility of your production issues, but based on what I can see on these forums, the preponderance of evidence suggests that the newer systems are prioritized over the R10s.  That's not first come first served as you stated previously.

There's a backlog, so what exactly is holding up R10s production??

Your further along than my order. I ordered 14 Oct and mine is still sitting in confirmed status.

Not exactly first come first served....praying for a Thanksgiving miracle!

I'm sorry to put you through this situation.

The factory is trying to fulfill the order as soon as possible.

However, due to part shortage and the current global situation, we are unable to do much from our end.

You may also reach out to our order modification team to discuss the possibility of looking into an alternative unit with available parts. You could contact them at 1800 247 2076.

Been there, done that!! Last time I spoke with order modification, that discussion didn't end well. I looked into changing my order to an R14. I would have lost my place in your production queue, for whatever that's worth, delaying delivery toward the end of December. At the time, my current order appeared to be the better option.

The other issue is they would not honor my military discount on the R14.  Given my current situation, you'd think they'd give a vet a break!

We understand your call out. The team can look into options on available units.

However, the production is based on first in and first out basis and also as per the availability. Our sales team are the team that can look into discounts.

If you are willing to keep the order, do keep track using the link shared as any changes of information is updated via link shared.

Good afternoon Team,

Thought I would give you all a quick update on my R10 order. I took Susanna’s (Dell Cares Moderator) advice and contacted the order modification team after it became readily apparent my R10 wasn’t shipping today and canceled my R10 order for an R13. In addition to switching to the I9 processor and downgrading the Video card to an RTX 3080, with a few other minor tweaks,  I’m happy with the changes and feel I have a better system at virtually the same price point as the R10.  I begin this quest on 14 Oct. My new rig is due for delivery on or BEFORE 19 Dec, I sincerely hope I don’t have any delays….again!!

@Susanna, DON”T MAKE ME REGRET MY DECISION!

I’m sorry Susanna, because while it may be difficult and these are only estimates, these estimates are off by months! That is insane, again I’m sorry to say.  It seems like this is only Dell that has these extreme issues too.  All that we ask for is more transparency, and if that’s not possible from your current suppliers, a change should be in order, but my assumption is that’s far far above your pay grade.  I wonder how many people have flat out sworn off Dell over these last few months…I guess when stock plummets, maybe the execs will finally figure it out and act.

So, I ordered an R13 with far less exciting specs, on 10/29, was to ship today, still in confirmed status.  Good luck but when I talked to the modification team just this morning, they had NO options that would help speed it up.  So mine will have a core i5 and going to a 7 or 9 would have made no difference, delayed due to processor shortage.  They said 7-10 days but I’m doubtful.  This was for my 7 yo son for Christmas too and while I know he’d love the R13 with clear panel and the purple lighting, I may have to look elsewhere.  Keep this post updated please with what you see/hear.
