R10 Production Delay

Ordered my new rig 14 October and it still hasn't transitioned to production.

Anyone else experiencing delays?

Use to your advantage and reorder the new R13 or R14 rigs

I considered that, only difference i saw was the new glass case for an extra ~$200, which is not a perk I need, as my system will be under the desk!

I think the glass panel is an option. But the airflow inside the case is vastly improved over the old generation. That would be the main consideration.

Looked into the new case and you're spot in. Huge improvements in the case design, which should improve cooling.

Spoke with sales about switching to an R14, but they wouldn't honor my military discount on the R14. Heck of a way to treat a disabled vet!

My R10 has not made it to production yet and is due for shipping in 15 Nov.  I hope there are no delays!

Well, thought I would provide an update. My new rig was scheduled to depart two days ago and according to the support person I conversed with, my new rig will ship in the next 30 days. For my troubles, they offered me a $100 discount upon shipment of my rig. I agreed, with one caveat; I requested express shipping (overnight) at no cost due to production delays, which they declined because shipping method can only be selected at purchase. That's absolutely ridiculous,  considering I'm looking at a 30 day delivery delay.

I honestly saw this going different in my head when I placed my order! Last system I purchased from Dell, I received early!

I get it, there's a supply chain issue, but come on Dell, don't make promises you can't keep. I just priced an R14 out of curiosity and your site says delivery by 14 Dec....seriously?

If that delivery date is accurate, just take the parts I ordered for my R10 and place them in the R14 case, problem solved!!

Come on Dell, you need to do the right thing for your customers and don't make delivery estimates you can't possibly keep. Do Better!!

Here's the Good: I've been a loyal Dell customer since the early 2000s. I'm still running that system today, it's slow for obvious reasons, but back in the day it was a screamer. I played EQ, EQ2, LOTRO, Warhammer, Rift, and several other games I can't recall at the moment. Other than a video card blowing up after several years of high end use, I've done nothing to upgrade and it runs fine for a home computer. I loaded up Call of Duty last year to play with my adult children and although load times were slow, I played well into prestige status, with no major issues in gameplay, which was very unexpected. Bottom Line: Dell systems are solid gaming platforms, no complaints.

The Bad: Recently, I ordered a new system from Dell on 14 Oct, with an expected shipping date of 15 Nov, which has come and gone, with my order still sitting in their production queue due to non-availability of parts. I've spoken with several service reps all providing canned responses providing no real solution to my delivery delay. It's not their fault obviously. They're on the receiving end dealing with irate customers whose new systems are sitting in limbo in Dell's pre-production queue waiting to receive parts. My biggest issue with all this churn is I think Dell is being overly optimistic on their delivery schedules.

The Ugly: As of today, I've been offered $100 compensation for their delivery delay and Dell refused to approve a shipping upgrade on their dime, which is not a huge ask in my opinion. I've also been informed that it could be another 30 days before my new rig is delivered due to supply chain disruptions.

Bottom Line: Customer support is lacking, through no fault of their own, after purchase as you can tell from multiple threads on this subject. Again, Dell makes solid gaming systems at a reasonable price point if you're willing to wait due to supply chain disruptions. If you plan to purchase a higher end system with the latest chipsets, then add 20-30 days on to whatever date they give you for shipping and delivery, otherwise you’re going to be very frustrated and disappointed.

Nice job Forum Mods for burying the response above from a discussion thread that was originally posted under Alienware Desktops. I see what you did there. You don't want prospective customers seeing there's a 20-30 day delay for new desktop and laptop orders. Can't take the heat? Don't promise delivery dates you can't possibly meet.

Cheers!

Nope nothing to report. Assuming my order transitions to production, I'll send an update then.

Well, today is the 24th and my order is still sitting in confirmed status. Thanksgiving tomorrow, holiday weekend, and my rig is supposed to ship on the 29th! What are the odds that there's another order delay in my future?
