This is Beyond Scamming...

I recently spoke to Dell Technical Support in India about a minor issue.  That went fine.  The problem was that no more than 5 minutes after I hung up with Dell, I received a scam phone call from a Dell 'coopted'  number claiming to be a call back and could they get remote access to my computer..  (I knew it was a scammer since it was the same line they feed you when the scammers are calling separately...some bull about security...)   In other words -- the scammers have now completely infiltrated Dell India  to the point that they know you're talking to Dell Tech.  This is kind of ridiculous. Are the scammers operating out of another floor?  Have they bugged the Dell phone lines?   And obviously since there is absolutely no way to get to Dell in the United States -- there's no way to report on what is possibly the most  egregious scam scenario I have ever experienced.  What the blank is going on here?  Can you imagine call Hewlett Packard Tech Support and then having a scammer tag onto that call?  C'mon guys -- ya gotta do something!  This borders on a real amateur hour...

Actually you'd get the same results with HP because they're equally infiltrated with scammers.

Hi Npatton,

Appreciate you posting your concerns on the Dell Community Forum Customer Care Board and also thank you for bringing this to our attention. Protection of your data is a top priority for Dell. Unfortunately, technology phone scams have become prevalent across our industry. We’d love for you to take a moment to help us stop cybercriminals by reporting details about your interaction. Would you please complete this form www.dell.com/reportphonescams? This will allow us to investigate further.

If you have any questions, just ask. And if you know anyone not on these distribution lists that would benefit from this information, please pass it along.

Really?  Well, since Dell gives you absolutely no way to reach Dell US --  when I tried to report this, I got cut off by Dell India.  Somebody called me back eventually to ask - 'Is  everything okay now?'  I said "No, I got cut off when trying to report this."  Their response?  They sent me an email saying the case had been resolved.  Right.

Dell is failing to address this properly.   Its not just a typical phone scam.  These scammers have information that they should not have, information that a dell support tech would have.   Dell has failed at addressing this for well over a year.   Its always the same canned response.  And it is unacceptable.

Bottom line is customers are getting scammed, because Dell is failing address the real issue with their customers.   This has been happening for well over a year now.

Saying you understand but failing completely to address the situation properly is unacceptable.   Dell has never publicly address the fact that these scammers have information they should not have and because of that they are ripping your customers off.

This is the same type of response Dell has been giving for well over a year.   What it seems to be, admitting that there is some really wrong going on, that Dell has in internal leak, or has had a data breach is to much of a risk for Dell,  instead letting your customer get ripped off and hope it goes away over time is the best option.

I have called more times then I can remember now,  over the last year or so, as I keep getting these calls every 4-6 months.  And its always the same run around from Dell.
