Where is my order, and has it been in production for almost a month?

I ordered a Inspiron 15 7000 Series laptop on Sept 23rd. It has not been shipped, and still says "In Production" when I check the order status. Why does it take almost a month to build a laptop? This laptop will be obsolete by the time I get it. I have been having horrible experiences with Dell as of late. And I purchase a lot from you. I try to call customer support on the phone, and there is a 15 - 20 minute wait time just to speak to a customer service rep. Last Friday, I called into Customer support it was 4:30pm PST. By the time I got into the support phone queue it was probably 4:40pm. So I waited, and waited, and at exactly 5:00pm PST a recording came on the phone and says "We're sorry, but customer service is currently closed", and then hung up on me. Seriously? You can't take the calls from your customers who have been on hold? Just hang up on them?
