Is there any specific reason why you wish to run 5.7.x?  I ask this since according to latest target revision and adoption document for DDOS 5..7.x is only 4% used (5.7.0.10 23.15% of it) and DD880 is rather old HW by current standards so I'm not sure how much I would push older hardware with newer software (especially since some newer power extensions depend on newer or updated hw power). I would rather use 5.6.0.5 if I were you since you are already at 5.6.x (unless there is specific reason to use 5.7.x.).

Hi Loren,

I've just checked the pre-upgrade script contained in the DDOS 5.7.0.10 rpm and indeed it does contact this explicit check for a DD880, despite the documentation stating that it's in the supported model list.

I'll check with our engineering team regarding if this is a documentation issue or if this is an oversight.

cheers, Rich.

I checked with engineering and they have advised the pre upgrade script is correct and that a DD880 is not a supported platform for DDOS 5.7.x.

Therefore it's an oversight in the DDOS 5.7.x release notes, which I've requested are updated to reflect this.

Sorry that it doesn't help you upgrade to 5.7 though.

The reason for the 5.7.x upgrade is for our product certification with DD appliance.  I am trying to obtain clarification whether it is an error on the model verification or if in deed the upgrade is not going to support this model.  Then if not will need to look at other options for 5.7.x Certification

  1. If your source is DDOS 5.5 or higher you can replicate to DDOS 5.7.x, so if only the replication is the question then you should be good there.
  2. If you do not have a DS-60 Shelf in mind (DS-60 is not supported by DD880) then stay away from 5.7.0.3 as it is known for may bugs in File system and CIFS. I experienced at least 3 personally using DDOS 5.7.0.3, and finally upgraded to 5.7.1.10, though 5.7.x is not supported by DD880. Please refer to the below KB article, I think there is a documentation bug which says 5.7.01 to 5.7.0.10 is supported by DD880, while DDOS 5.7.1.10 Release notes says DD880 is not supported.
