Importing XML

Setup:

Windows 2003 running DPA 5.8.0 using iAnywhere database

I have exported the iAnywhere database to a compressed XML file and what I need to do is import the XML file to a new DPA server that I've just built - this will be Windows 2008 running DPA 5.8.0 and iAnywhere - when I created the export file I stopped the listener process so what I'm wondering is do I have to shut the listener process on the new server during the import?

Thanks

Andy

Hi Andy
If you are just moving/changing the OS of the DPA Server, there is no need to export the database to xml.  The basic method is to shutdown your existing DPA Server, copy the iAnywhere files to the target/new DPA Server (to the exact same location/path) and just do an install on the new DPA Server. It will pick up the database and go from there.  There are other steps and things to be mindful of though ....

I am busy putting together a whitepaper on this topic and looking to complete it soon.  Email me and I will send it along when I am done.
