OpenManage Enterprise and S4048T
Hi,
I cannot discover S4048T Switches using
Dell OpenManage Enterprise Tech Release Version 1.0.0 (Build 543)
The S4048T switches are running
OS Version: 10.4.1.0
Build Version: 10.4.1.0.483
When attempting to do so I get the following error message

CJOB4065 : Performing a manatory Action GET_SERIES_N_UNIT_INFO with profile Dell_Series_N of the Device Management operation DISCOVERY Failed. CJOB4065 : Performing a manatory Action GET_FCS_UNIT_INFO with profile Fibre_Channel_Switch of the Device Management operation DISCOVERY Failed. Task Failed. Execution has completed
I can do an snmpwalk of the switches however, using the GNU snmpwalk tool ( e.g snmpwalk -v 2c -c public ip.address.of.switch )
Can anyone point me at appropriate documentation showing how to discover these switches in OpenManage.

Hi Kate,
For discovery operations to work, some mandatory connections need to be established with the remote device, which in this case is your S4048 switch. From the error, it seems like some mandatory connection is not getting set and since you are able to perform SNMP walk, could you please check if the firmware on this switch is latest? We have seen discovery of older firmware of S4048 not working at times.

Thanks for your response. Unfortunately, i cannot think of any solution at this point of time as you already told that SNMP walk works for you. I am assuming the SNMP walk that you performed was on Dell Force 10 MIB enterprise OID.
The next version of OMEnterprise is going to be there soon, i would suggest that you wait for the next release to check if this one works for you.
