BMC support on PE 2850
Hi
I have a Poweredge 2850 with BMC board fitted, running VM ESXi 4.1, and I can access the IPMI data from my Ubuntu Desktop.
Is anyone aware of a Linux based GUI that will allow management of the server remotely via the BMC ?
If not Linux is there a windows based GUI ?

Thanks for that.
I only have the BMC card installed.
Do I install Open Manager on the Ubuntu desktop and manage the server remotely ?

OpenManage Server Administrator has to reside on the server (end node) and then you can manage it from Ubuntu desktop.

Nigel,
If you have a DRAC 4 card, it will allow you to manage the server remotely. I suspect if it is just BMC, it has to be thru' IPMITool (CLI).
Another option is to install OpenManage Server Administrator can be installed on the system and access it from there which is more in-band management.

So on the server running esx 4, that has a an ubuntu guest OS, is the openmanager installed on the esx or the ubuntu guest ?

OpenManage is installed on the ESX.
