875PBZ - Intel Desktop Control Center - this could be hot

My 4600's motherboard is based on an Intel 875PBZ. Intel just came out with its Desktop Control Center. Will DELL provide an bios that allows Intel's Desktop Control Center to work with it?

I am not aware of any Dimension system BIOS under development that would allow interfacing with that specific software package.

Sorry to disappoint you that your 4600 is equip with 865 chipsets. Only 8300 and XPS has 875P Chipsets. That software will only cause your system into error mania.

I got a dim 8300, but eventhough that one has the i875p chipset, desktop control center doesnt work. The setup freezes every time. I guess the Dell-Motherboard is a modified intel board!

Thats correct, i've the same problem.

I see an window with the message "Installing SMBIOS drivers" or so.... And than the IKernel.exe runs with 100% CPU performance, i saw this in my task manager...

What can i do, that this very cute tool correctly runs?

This is an typical dell problem. No Intel Tool work with this motherboard, for example the Tuningtool Intel Application Accelator doesn't work, too. Thats very stupid, because this tool should be optomize the system and give 5-10% more performance.

I think so, i must wait of the next Bios update...  A04? A05?

Yeah, thats exactly what happens! And its similar to what happens if u try to install Intel Active Monitor! I dont think there's any way to fix this, except for a bios update. Tell if I'm wrong.

What is the different between i875PBZ an i875P?

Can somebody tell me?

Well, the i875P is the name of the intel chipset of the mainboard. The i875PBZ is a desktop motherboard by intel, which uses the same chipset as the dell mb (namely the i875P). It supports HT, 800Mhz FSB, dual-channel DDR400, usb 2.0, pat-technology, etc. Earlier i wrote that in difference to the dell board, the i875PBZ could have a max of 4GB of RAM. Well, according to the technical specifications in the dell dimension 8300 series service manual, the dell mb can hold 4GB of RAM, but the dell website says 2GB. Is that just for Dual-Channel?

875PBZ is the real MCcoy from intel

875P is customized but the with the most basic configuration made entirely for dell computers.

Here is an update: The Dell 4600 motherboard is indeed custom made for Dell, and it is based on the 865 chipset. From the pictures at http://www.intel.com/design/motherbd/products.htm, its layout comes close to the D865PESO board. The Intel Desktop Control Center doesn't work with it, and softfsb does not work with it either.

Opposite to the Intel Board, the Dell ones also don't come with thermal sensors, which are required for some of the software mentioned above. Due to the stunted Bios features, you can't overclock the Dell boards anyway, so the loss of the thermal sensors is neglectable.

Yeah, ur right! And the limited configuration features in the bios is probably due to the small flash memory of 3.4 MB. The i875PBZ has 8MB.
Did anyone try the new chipset drivers from intel (5.00.1013)?
