9100 boot up BIOS message

I have a Dimension 9100. Occasionally when I switch on I get the following message

X300XT BIOS P/N 113-A33437-102

What does it mean and how do I fix whatever is causing it?

Cheers

When this happens is the any indication of the diagnostic lights giving an error code or the system emitting a beep code which can further help pinpoint the problem ?   You can click here for an explanation of those error codes from your model's on-line Service Manual.

Also have you changed any hardware recently ?   USB devices such as a printer have been known to cause boot up problems.  There has also been past discussions in the forum here that make reference to the problem as being related to the graphics card and / or it's driver.  Click here for a listing of those prior discussions and review some of the suggestions offered.

This started to happen after I installed a USB turntable to convert vinyl records to digital / mp3 files.

If this is the problem how do I get round the problem?

First, determine if the USB turntable is the source of the problem.  Try disconnecting it to see if the system will boot Ok without it attached.  Secondly, if the turn table is the source of the problem then go into your BIOS Setup by pressing the F2 key at boot up and change the options for any USB booting to No Boot.  I'm not an owner of your model, so I can't really say where all the USB Boot options will be located.  Check in the Boot Sequence option of the BIOS Setup as well in the USB Controller option.

Do you by chance have the ATI X300 graphics card? It so, it looks like it is displaying its BIOS message as graphics cards often do.
