ACPI driver not installed - do I really need it?
I have a XPS410 desktop. In the hardware device manager I have an "Unknown Device" showing with the yellow "?". When I attempt to install the driver for this "device" it finds nothing. In properties I find it is a device in Microsoft ACPI compliant systems. All information I find in my search on the net really doesn't satisfy my curiosity as to why I cannot get a driver to load for this device. I even chose to "uninstall" it; then restarted my computer. Upon startup s message showed I had new hardware to install! So I am right back where I started. Otherwise, my computer seems to be working just fine but the yellow question mark by that Unknown Device situation puzzles me and I would like to resolve the issue. I should mention it first appeared after I did a clean install of my Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 2002 about a year ago. Can someone give me some insite in this issue? Thanks.

Send me your XPS 410 service tag number in a private message so I can locate your drivers.

More than likely it could be the Intel Viiv driver.
Your can download it here: Intel Viiv for Broadwater<ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed / replaced from this post by Dell>

Finally! This driver worked and I no longer have an Unknown Device! Thanks, stefanrp97. You are a genius!
I marked this as the solution but really meant to mark the one above. Sorry about that!
