ATI Firepro v4800

This video card states it can display 3 high resolution monitors hoever when I connect a 3rd monitor it will not display. I have setup windows to destect the monitor but it is unable to save the settings. All 3 monitors work if connected in pairs. Would someone be able to tell me what I am missing or is this video card working correctly.

The connections are all DVI.

Videostar,

What operating system are you using?

And you say that all connections are DVI, yet the card has 2 DisplayPort and 1 DVI connector. Are you using DP to DVI adapters?

The operating system is windows 7 and the card has 2 display ports and 1 dual link DVI port.  Yes I am using dp to DVI adapters. When I checked the ATI catalyst the drivers only show up as two displays. I wondered whether there should be another set of drivers but could not find any.

Videostar,

I saw on the FirePro 4800 page on the ATI site, that EyeFinity is only supported on Vista and Windows 7 so your O/S should be fine.

I'm wondering where you got your DP to DVI adapters. You need ACTIVE adapters (they have clock repeaters) for >2 monitors.

You should check the ATI site to see if your adapters are ATI CERTIFIED. Look here:

I got a similar problem. I have connected to ATI Firepro V4800 through DP to HDMI adaptors 2 tv monitors  (with HDMI cables) and the DVI port to Dell U2711 but i couldn't manage to use the 3 monitors simultaneously.

Do you have any idea where is the problem?

thanks.

Hi MPAP;

To correct this problem you need to update the driver. You can get this driver from ATI.com  The open up the ATI manager and follow the instruction to activate the third monitor. After this has completed you will need to reboot your computer. When it reboots only two monitor will be active will booting. After logging on to windows got the control panel activate your 3rd monitor. From then on when you boot up two monitors will be active until you sigh into windows then all 3 will work.

I did try to get all 3 to work at boot up but could not get all 3 to work. Only 2.

Hope this helps you.

Dear videostar,

thanks a lot for the advise.

Can you confirm the link http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/fire/Pages/fire_win7-32.aspx?

I have a similar issue.  I've got two bizlink kb10009 hooked up to two hp 17" monitors and the dvi to a dell 19"w.  The PC identifies all three, but will only recognize two of them at one time.  Based upon the link above to the adapters I have the correct ones, but the drivers and win 7 pro, will only allow the two.

I've upgraded to the latest driver, but no go.  Do you think getting different adapters might work?

I have three 22 inch monitors connected so your monitors should be fine. Try checking the display function on the windows control panel or reseting the ATI manager.  I have 2 extra adapters because I thought the the same as you. I had a difficult time getting mine to work. I think I reloaded the drivers and ATI manager 3 or 4 times before I got them to work. I think it is in the order of the updates. Unfortunately I do not remember the order because I was very frustrated by the time I got it to work. What I do remember is before loading the updated drivers I had to delete the existing drivers first. Then I had to reboot my system before loading the new updates.

The updated drivers from ATI do work. I use windows 7 - 64 bit. The othe issue I had was with Windows. I needed to make sue that I had all the updates and addins required to make windows current.

Hope this helps you.

Thanks for the information here. I have followed all the recommended steps and cannot seem to get my set-up to work.

I have a Dell Precision 3500 with 2 V4800 video cards. I am trying to connect 5 monitors. I can get them all to work, but I cannot save the configured set-up. I have used the most up-to-date drivers and the only configuration the computer recognizes is a straight line. Any thoughts on how to get this to work? Thanks.

I am having the same exact issue. Did you get this resolved? And if so, can you please tell me how?
