Accessing BIOS Precision T3600

So I have a Precision T3600 workstation with windows 7 professional 64-bit, and I'm having trouble accessing BIOS. When the dell logo screen appears on startup, it shows "F12" for startup options but after several attempts of repeatedly pressing "F12", nothing happens. I've tried other common keys like "F2" and nothing works. What could this be? Is there any other way to access BIOS? My BIOS version is A07.

Thanks

Hi gearhead5655,

Pressing F2 or F12 is the only way to access BIOS screen.

I recommend you to check if the ‘F8’ key works. Tap F8 key every two seconds at Dell logo which will open ‘Advanced boot options’.

In case of even F8 key not responding, I recommend you to check by connecting another known good USB keyboard.

Please reply with the status for further assistance.

So it turns out its the keyboard, for some reason it isn't powering up until I hit the login screen. It's the standard dell usb keyboard that came with the computer. I guess I'll just have to try another one.

Thanks

I have the same machine with a working keyboard.  After hitting F2 or F12, the machine prompts me to hit ctrl+r to run the configuration utility, but it only takes me to configuration for the raid controller.  How do I get to the regular bios for the system.

Thanks for your help.

Hi boomerangzee,

After pressing F2, I request you to wait for few seconds without pressing Ctrl + R and check if it goes to the BIOS screen. Let me know the status.

Hi DELL-Sujatha K,

I was still directed to the BIOS for the controller.  However, I turned off the BIOS for the controller, restarted the machine, and was able to get the system BIOS with settings I needed.  The mouse didn't work but that was no problem.

Thanks for the response!!

If you plug in the USB keyboard / mouse to USB3 ports it won't respond quick enough to be used for the BIOS.
