Alert! System battery voltage is low?
Hey everyone. I've got a dell optiplex GX260 desktop. It's about 9 years old. I got keep getting this message upon startup, along with 2 beeps in quick succession.
I'm guessing this is my motherboard battery running low, but I'm not quite sure what to do. Does it recharge? Do I have to replace it? If so, how? Is it worth doing or should I ditch the computer altogether? some people tell me, that i can buy that battery in an electronics store that the battery is the same as used for watches is that true? they tell me is this one? http://bimg2.mlstatic.com/bateria-pila-litio-cr2032-3v-tipo-boton_MLM-F-3126331369_092012.jpg
can someone help me please, im so worried about this, cause never happened before. :emotion-9:

If you got 9 years out of that battery, you're doing great!
The CR2032 battery is only ~US$2-$3 at most discount stores and is fairly easy to replace. Read your user manual for instructions.

thank u so much for reply to me, i though it was a virus or something, so this mean, i need to replace the old battery for a new one, really? Wish me luck with that, cause i never doing something like that, hehe

Really, you need to replace the battery. If the battery dies, the system may not boot. Think of this as routine preventative maintenance.
Be sure to run BIOS Setup (reboot and press F2 before Windows starts to load) and copy down all the BIOS settings before you remove the old battery.
After you remove the old battery, the BIOS settings will be reset to the basic settings. The basic settings may not be right for your hardware. So you'll have to reboot and go into BIOS Setup after you install the new battery and make sure the settings match what you wrote down, or change them to match what you wrote down.
If you have a geeky friend, maybe he/she can help you change the battery. It's not difficult but read and follow the instructions at the link in my previous post and you should be ok.
