You could go up to 8GB of RAM with 4x2-GB modules for ~$120.

EDIT: That link is for the XPS 630. If you actually have the XPS 630i, go here instead. Specs look the same for both sets of RAM but they have different part numbers at the site.

Also how hard is it to upgrade the GPU on a XPS 630?

With your current specs, you should easily be able to play the game.  What driver version are you using for the GTX 285? You really don't need that Ageia PhysX card in there and should pull it out.  PhysX is used in the Nvidia drivers now for the video card.  It has already been shown that there is little if any difference in gaming between 4GB & 8GB.  If you want to play the most recent games, you have to have the most recent drivers for the GTX 285 which you can get directly from Nvidia's web site.

I'm sure that I'm up to date with all my driver versions, I know the PhysX card is probably pointless, I kind of bought it without thinking! If Im up to date with my driver versions I dont know what else It could be, I've been told its my GPU by some people.

I realize it's an older 200 series card, but the GTX 285 was always a strong one even if it is showing its age now.  The recommended card for the game is the GTS 450 or the HD 5670 on the AMD side.  You can get by with less on lower settings. Your GTX 285 exceeds these two cards by quite a bit.  However, it would seem that the newer cards like the GTS 450 may get better frame rates even though it falls under the performance of the GTX 285.  Driver versions can effect the frame rates by a lot and the newer drivers don't do much for the older 200 series cards.  Your next step up would be the GTX 560 and nothing less.  It is not difficult to replace the video card.

Make sure you have the latest patch for the game as it has been optimized to provide better frame rates.  This is somewhat of a demanding game, so if you have an older video card and CPU it is not going to be up to par with something newer and you may have to turn things down.  Even a GTX 560 is only going to get 50-60 FPS.  A GTX 285 should get over 40.

Almightychese2,

There are many post on the web about Guild Wars 2 and low FPS. It seems the game is not well written. Anyway, have you considered running two GeForce GTX285 in SLI? Call Dell Spare Parts 1-800-357-3355 and ask for prices and availability. Provide to them the part numbers listed below.

I'm thinking of purchasing a Nvidia 660ti . Will this fit into my XPS 630 and will it be compatible with my other parts?

Thankyou,

It will work, but it is probably too much video card for your older quad CPU and not a good match up.  No reason to spend $300 if you won't get the most out of the card when you can get the GTX 560 ti for less than $200.  That's the way I would look at it, but I'll leave it up to you.

I mean I dont mind getting a video card which will be good now, but will require my CPU etc to be upgradded soon

You cannot upgrade your CPU as the motherboard will not work with the newer i5s and i7s.  They only work on the newer 1155 boards and you have an old 775 socket board.

Almighty, was just reading your post. Try checking on what Chris suggested. I have a 630i with a 285GTX. If you didnt know, the 630i was made so when one card is installed, it is only runninng at PCI 8x not 16x. If you SLI two 285's you would easily double your performance. It was a serious design flaw by DELL and the board is locked so you can not change the BIOS to run one card at PCI 16. A 285 right now is about $120 on Amazon. Like I said, the 630i was designed to be run as a SLI computer and has the PSU to do it with no problems.
