SOLUTIONS

To select the correct memory for your computer, try the Memory Page on My Website

Get your order status - 1-800-433-9014

Clean your screen - turn off your PC. Use a damp soft cloth. Wipe screen carefully, then buff dry with another soft cloth. Then wipe your keyboard and pointer area, avoiding the pointer tip.

Don't upgrade your Norton Antivirus! Buy it new or SystemWorks or Internet Security (each of which contain Antivirus), and take advantage of their FREE after rebate promos that run all the time - just keep your eyes open. When the new Quicken comes out Antivirus will be free, also when TurboTax comes out. Lots of chances to not spend money to upgrade!

Why can't I track my UPS package? Per Dell-Chandler - The packages are picked up from Dell by UPSLG, which is owned by UPS. UPSLG doesn't scan the packages. They deliver the packages to UPS' regional hubs where they then will receive the initial scan. During the time from when they are picked up from Dell to the time they are scanned at the UPS regional hub, they are not able to be tracked. As soon as they reach the UPS regional hub they will be scanned in to UPS' system, which, depending on where you live, could take as long as 3 days..

APX Tracking Click here ,then click on USPS tracking code at the top. Call APX at (866) 744-7979.

In Production means that Dell expects to the parts in house in time to make the ship date that they have given you. It does NOT mean that all the parts are in the factory and that your machine is almost ready.

Testing on a laptop means that your machine is enjoying cocktails on the airplane coming over from Malaysia... It will ship soon.

Yes you can still be hacked no matter what firewall you use, hardware or software. Just be careful of what you download since you can get something that will corrupt your AV and firewall then they can take over your system. Even if they dont corrupt the firewall, a program can still create a connection making the firewall think you made it, and allow a hacker to have access to your entire system, if your AV isnt up to date, or somehow doesnt detect it.

Although grc.com is nice, his little tester is to small. You have over 65000 ports on your computer, and his test maybe covers the most popular. If you want to really test it then you need to go to http://www.hackerwhacker.com/ and take the complete test. The first one is free, but anything after that and you need to pay.

That test takes VERY long to do, so dont plan on doing anything for awhile. There is another site which I cant remember right now which will do the same thing but all tests are free. However there are around 300 different tests or so that each need to be ran manually which makes using it a real hassle.

Keep in mind if your on grc.com and use the 'leaktest' it ONLY tests outgoing connections. Norton firewall/anti virus is very good software and you shouldn't have to worry about hackers. If your THAT consirned though you can create a new rule that blocks out all ports, from all IPs addresses and all UDP, IMCP, and TCP scanners. Although this might cause problems its probably as safe as you can get, without turning off your connection.

Its probably pretty tough to get hacked with NIS loaded and updated constantly. Remember hackers are looking for easy connections to mess with people. They dont wanan spend (most of the time) hours and hours trying to get into your system unless they think theres something worth it on there. Most just run random checks to find vulnerable computers and then hack those. I wouldnt worry too much, NIS is one of the best security systems there is, if not the best.
