Depends on which IPOD and Which port aka USB??? or Firewire/1394?????

You should download and install ITUNES first.

This of course assumes WIN2000 or XP. WIN9X is not supported with the IPOD.

I am connecting with a USB lead at the front of the machine, have tried various combinations of installing/uninstalling software in different ways but no luck so far.

We are attempting to connect an Ipod 20GB with Itunes Software release 6 (25-10-2005).

You didnt say what model. The IPOD REQUIRES USB 2.0

I can assume you are doing something wrong or don't have a dell or some other issue.

You didnt say what OS, What service packs, what model number, what serial number/service tag.

Which ports? front or back, You didnt try a POWERED USB 2.0 Hub.

This is like pulling teeth.

Im sticking a fork in you we are done.

This is an Apple support issue not a dell hardware problem.

I was wondering if you ever found a solution to your Ipod problem.  I just bought one for my daughter and I am having the same trouble.

Thanks

Hi there in the end I had to take my Computer in to be re-configured, somehow some of the windows drivers needed to run Apple Itunes had been deleted. So I had to re-install Windows XP which fixed the problem.

So did you reinstall it yourself or did you have to have someone do it for you?  I have the windows xp installing disc.
