Assigning Double Click to Dell Wheel Mouse Button???
All righty then,
My old Windows 98 system had a mouse with a scrolling wheel "button" which you could assign other functions to besides scrolling.
I have a brand new, right out of the box, Dimension 4600 with all the bells and whistles. Comes with a USB Dell branded wheel mouse. The wheel is also a button.
In the control panel when I try to assign some other function to the wheel button THERE AREN'T ANY! All I can do is change the number of lines the screen scrolls when the wheel rotates.
How do I assign a different function to the "button" part of the wheel ????????
Do I need to install different mouse software?? Is there any DIFFERENT mouse software available that is compatible with the Dell branded wheel mouse- or should I go back to my old mouse??
Thanks, and HAPPY THANKSGIVING !!

Me too!!!
I have a Dimension 2400 with the exact same issue. My old 233MHz machine with an intellimouse allows me to assign the wheel button to be a double-click. My new Dimension 2400 running at 2.2GHz with a Dell 2-button wheel mouse does not allow this. Frustrating!!!!!!!

If it's a Logitech mouse - go to http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm?page=downloads/categories&CRID=1792&countryid=19&languageid=1 to get their driver (currentl 9.7.something) - this will give you all kinds of options the lousy M$ driver does not.
