Auto Power On

I have a Demension 8100 and a 2300.  Love them both.  When I power down the 8100 and power off the surge protector and then turn the surge protector on the system powers on and boots.  I would like to do the same with the 2300.  Running Windows XP.  I have tried all sorts of power setup combinations.  Is it posible to do this on the 2300?

I agree with setup in BIOS.  However no combination seems to give that to me.

Don't know for sure, but that would be a function configured in BIOS. Look there.

I agree with that but I can't seem to get any combination to give me that.

Hi, Ksal;

I have a Dimension 2100. I, too, wanted everything to go on and off at the same time. I got a "@Power" Peripherals Power Centralizer. It's a power strip where you plug your computer into the "main" outlet and the peripherals (printer, monitor, speakers, etc.) into the other outlets. When the computer powers up/down, the peripherals also turn on/shut off. Its a power strip, not a surge protector, so I plug it into my surge suppressor. Works great. I got it at TigerDirect.com for about $45.00.

Hope this helps.

Look in the BIOS for the "auto on" or something to that effect after a power loss. That is why the other system comes back on when the power strip is reset.  The 2300 should have the same setting in the BIOS.

Ksal,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.
The following information should help.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Entering System Setup.
Using the F2 key you can enter System Setup to make changes to the user definable settings.
If having trouble entering setup press the F2 key when the keyboard LEDs 1st flash.

AC Power Recovery.
Press the tab key to move to the Power menu.
Use the down arrow key to highlight A/C Power Recovery.
Use the ( +/- ) keys to change the value to ON.
Press (F10) and press (Enter) on (Save Changes and Exit).
The system should then reboot.
--Last State (default) - Computer returns to the state it was in when power was lost.
--Off - Computer stays off when power is restored; you must press the power button to turn on the computer.
--On - Computer turns on when power is restored

Thanks making the change in CMOS now seems to work.  It started working today.   3 days and many boots later.  Don't know why it didn't work before.
