Having the similar problems with the Backup and Restore application.
I have a DELL Vostro 230ST which was purchased in May this year and i am having problems with it. I assumed that just because i got the Recovery Disks with it i didn't need to make them wich i didn't. Anyway a few weeks down the line i was getting a blank desktop and some error message saying that somthing cannot be located and it wouldnt load the desktop, (turned out to be a corrupted user account). A few days later it started doing the same again so i ended up restoring it from the Factory Image. Few days later i started getting the BSOD Error so i ended up reinstalling Windows 7 and all the drivers with the disks that came with it.
That seems to have fixed the problem. Last week i ended up getting a virus but my antivirus software ended up quarantining it but the computer doesn't seem rite. It takes ages to start up and it is slowing down. I tried restoring it using Dell Backup and Recovery Manager and it says that the Factory Restore Image is missing and another message saying "The system does not have the Windows Recovery Environment installed. This is required to run Dell Backup and Recovery Manager."
I have tried sending Dell an email (7 in total) explaining the problems and that the computer is fairly new, but they can't even be bothered to answer. I don't even want to phone them because i will get put through to a call centre in India ending up having a useless conversation.
