Whenever I turn on my computer, I hear a couple of beeps, the hard drive starts spinning, the fan turns, then nothing else happens. Does this sound like a bad system board?
Could be, but probably not. Check the monitor connection to the video card and the keyboard. Then open the system and reseat the memory and video card.

I tried reseating all of the cards in the system, but that didn't help. I also noticed that the power down button doesn't turn the computer on and off. However, the reset buttom seems to start the boot cycle again.
I have the same problem. Try to power on and I can hear the hard drive spinning. But, the screen stays blank and the 3 lights at the top of the keyboard flash. I called Dell support and they said it was either memory loose or bad mother board. I reseated the memory. Same problem. Purchased new motherboard... completely dead. I put back in the old motherboard and reseated the processor. Still same thing... hear hard drive, lights flash, screan blank, turns off. I have also re-seated the video and keyboard.
Have either the original poster or you looked on the back of the system tower at the diagnostic LED's (near the serial port) to read the codes there? (four LED's, A B C D)

You need to determine if the machine(s) is POSTing, attempting to POST, or is just plain dead with no LED's.....
