Black Screen Computer Crash
Machine: Optiplex 8000 almost 2 years old. N-Vidia GEForce 20 Video Card
Situation: Transferring video, fireware, from both Canon and Panasonic camcorders.
Problem: Sudden crash, black screen, files lost, sometimes noise from the box. Only way to restart is to hold down the power switch for 15-20 seconds.
Have SPECCY, temperatures appear normal, fans are clean. Events are random.Sometimes an hour, sometimes less than a minute. I work around it by stopping and saving every 5-6 minutes, but that is a nuisance.

I assume you have ran the Dell diagnostics. power down your system. When powering up press F12 at the Dell BIOS screen.
Select diagnostics, run these alongside any extended tests.
