Blue screen.....error code 0cx000021a

I have gotten this error w/ a blue screen. I have talked to friends and looked all over the internet. It acts like it's going to start up w/ dell logo then goes to this blue screen. Going to restart & code 0cx000021a. All says to press f8 to get advanced menu up but my f8 does not work.  I have also tried the disk & it does not work either.  Anyone have any ideas?   This is my only computer.  Please HELP!  Thank you

You must say what model computer + operating system to get specific help. The error is a critical system one usually caused by a bad driver, bad 3rd party software or a glitch in system services. Boot to your recovery disk to run tests and remove any newly installed hardware drivers or software.

If you can boot to the boot menu, run the hardware diagnostics. See your manual for instructions.

The STOP 0xC000021A error occurs when either Winlogon.exe or Csrss.exe fails. When the Windows NT kernel detects that either of these processes has stopped, it stops the system and raises the STOP 0xC000021A error. This error may have several causes. Among them are the following:
  • Mismatched system files have been installed.
  • A Service Pack installation has failed.
  • A backup program that is used to restore a hard disk did not correctly restore files that may have been in use.
  • Malware has replaced the Kernel.

You will have to completely reinstall windows after removing the malware.

It is very common for certain types of remote malware software to replace the default Windows Msgina.dll

Very common with

  • Microsoft Windows XP
