Bluetooth Mouse freezing

I recently bought a bluetooth mouse for use with my Dell Inspiron 660 (operating system: Windows 8).

Occasionally, it either freezes or goes to sleep, and in order to reactivate it, I have to turn it off and then turn it back on.

It's my first bluetooth mouse. Is this kind of thing normal with this type of device, or does it probably have a defect?

It's new, soIi can return it to the seller if it is defective.

If freezing is normal for a bluetooth mouse, can I make a settings adjustment to overcome or alleviate this problem?

Hi donaldfleming,

You may update the Bluetooth drivers. Please follow the steps below:

  • Press ‘Windows’ key + R on ‘Desktop’ screen
  • Type ‘devmgmt.msc’ in run box and press ‘Enter’
  • Click > sign next to ‘Bluetooth Devices’
  • Right click on the listed device and click ‘Update Driver Software’

You may try to change the power settings for the mouse. Please follow the steps below:

  • Go to ‘Control Panel’
  • Go to ‘More Settings’
  • Go to ‘Device and Printers’
  • Search for ‘Bluetooth’
  • Select ‘Change Bluetooth Settings’
  • Select the ‘Generic Bluetooth Adapter’
  • Click ‘Properties’
  • Click ‘Change Settings’
  • Click ‘Power Management’
  • Uncheck the box ‘Allow the computer to turn off the device to save power’

Hope this helps. Please feel free to reply for any further assistance.
